What is a Kantha?

Hailing from the eastern reaches of rural India and its surrounds, Kantha is a form of traditional embroidery where pre-loved cotton saris are layered and hand-sewn with a distinctive running stitch by local women to form vibrant patchwork pieces.

Each hand-crafted Kantha creation benefits from eco-friendly fabric recycling at its point of origin, a perfectly imperfect block-print design, and, most importantly, a story all of its own.

Its uniquely versatile look and feel suits both classic and contemporary tastes, which is why we just can’t keep our Kantha crush to ourselves any longer – it’s time to invite some new friends to this relationship…
