Product Spotlight: Meet Our New Stonewashed Kantha Range

There’s something unmistakably grounding about indigo. It feels earthy, timeless and calming. Our new Stonewashed Collection brings those qualities forward with a blend of three techniques we absolutely love; natural indigo dyeing, traditional Dabu block printing and a slow stonewashing process that softens everything to perfection.

From a spark of an idea in Brooke's mind to the final product, this collection has been many months in the making, and every piece has that lived-in texture and soulful depth that indigo lovers adore. It’s wearable art crafted with intention.

The first step in our process

With each of our stonewashed pieces, our team in India begins by taking our signature kantha fabric and removing the colour, offering a neutral canvas so our beautiful Dabu printing and indigo dyeing techniques can really shine. This first step makes our stonewashed pieces different from most, as we are not just using plain cotton!

What is Dabu printing?

Dabu printing is a traditional mud-resist technique originating in Rajasthan. The process involves creating a paste from mud, gum and natural ingredients, which is hand-applied to fabric using carved wooden blocks. Once the resist dries, the fabric is dipped into natural indigo dye. Wherever the mud sits, the dye cannot penetrate, leaving behind beautiful, soft patterns that feel organic, imperfect and full of character.

It’s slow, skilled, hands-on work that supports artisan craftsmanship and preserves a cultural tradition that has been practised for generations.

Why natural indigo?

Indigo has a depth and vibrancy that just can’t be replicated with synthetic dyes. It ages beautifully and continues to soften with wear, giving each piece its own story. Because these garments are dyed by hand, small variations in tone are completely normal, adding to the unique charm of every item in the collection.

How stonewashing transforms the fabric

Before and after dyeing and printing, each piece goes through a gentle stonewashing process. This step softens the cotton, enhances the worn-in look and lifts the indigo into a washed, slightly faded effect. Instead of looking brand-new and feeling crunchy to the touch, the fabric already feels like your favourite piece straight from the first wear.

It’s the perfect mix of lived-in comfort and artisanal detail.

Why we created this collection

We’ve been dreaming of an indigo range that feels cosy, easy to wear and full of texture. Something earthy but elevated. Something that celebrates traditional craftsmanship while still sitting comfortably within everyday wardrobes.

The Stonewashed Collection is exactly that; relaxed silhouettes, softened cotton, hand-printed patterns and the timeless beauty of indigo, all made with small-scale artisan partners.

What to expect in this collection

Think soft draping fabrics, relaxed fits and pieces you can throw on without thinking that easily make an outfit. Every garment is completely unique thanks to the combination of hand-dyeing, block printing and natural variations from stonewashing.

If you love:

- earthy, natural tones

- bespoke craftsmanship

- clothing that feels lived-in and soulful

- unique patterns you won’t find twice

…you are going to adore this collection.

Wearable craft with a story

Every piece in our Stonewashed Collection carries the work of real hands, real heritage and real artistry. They’re not just clothes. They’re a collaboration across cultures, skills and slow processes, brought together to create something beautiful for your wardrobe. We really feel like these styles are pieces of wearable art and look forward to seeing our community enjoy them as much as we do!

A note on care

Because these pieces are made using natural dyes and traditional methods, gentle care helps them last. Cold handwashing is your friend. Expect a little dye release in the beginning; that’s perfectly normal with natural indigo. Wash separately the first few times and line dry.
