What is Kantha?

*
Hailing from the eastern reaches of rural India and its surrounds, Kantha is a form of traditional embroidery where pre-loved cotton saris are layered and hand-sewn with a distinctive running stitch by women in the local villages to form vibrant patchwork pieces.
Kantha is the stitching and the fabric used is beautifully soft Indian cotton. The layers (usually 2 or 3) are why the inside of your treasure always holds a surprise different from the outside. Each hand-crafted Kantha creation benefits from eco-friendly fabric recycling at its point of origin, perfectly imperfect block-print designs, and, most importantly, a story all of its own.
